What I Read in January

These 9 books were a great start to the year.

If January is any indication, then 2020 is going to be a great reading year. I finished 9 books — all by female authors. (Well, A Warning may have been written by a woman. If so, my guess is Kellyanne. But that’s a whole ‘nuther post.)

Here are the 9 books I read in January:

A Thousand Mornings: Poems by Mary Oliver (Penguin, 2012, 82 pages)
There’s something I love about starting the year with a poetry collection. For me, some of Mary Oliver’s books have been just okay, but A Thousand Mornings is a win. These poems observe with reverence the wonder of our natural world — the environment, animals, and our place in it — making this the perfect book to begin 2020. 4 stars.

The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck: How to Stop Spending Time You Don’t Have with People You Don’t Like Doing Things You Don’t Want to Do by Sarah Knight (Little, Brown and Company, 2015, 224 pages)

This parody of Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up has been hailed as “hilarious” and “genius.” It isn’t. Not only does Sarah Knight like saying…
