A New Year’s Thank You

Here’s to another year of friendship, connection and writing.

Without a doubt, discovering Medium has been one of the best things about 2019 for me.

I’m guessing that may be true for you, too. Many of us seemed to find our way to this space this year.

I’m grateful that you were among them.

In a world that holds so much divisiveness, anger, and fear, reading your words has been a much-needed source of connection, joy, and hope.

This year, you reignited my love for poetry. Algorithms and payment models be damned; so many poets here have lifted me up, inspired me to dust off poems of mine that haven’t seen the light of day for years, and given me the courage to write some new verses.

This year, you taught me how to navigate this platform.

This year, you broadened my perspective on issues.

This year, you made me laugh. Often.

This year, you made me a better writer by encouraging me to show up in this space, even if I wasn’t sure if anyone would care what I had to say.

I hope that, even in some small way, I helped do the same for you.

Thank you for sharing your words and thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading mine. It means more than you know.
